Multi-Factor Authenticaion
Providence Credit Union has now made doing business with us even more safe and secure. We already provide a secure connection through our website when you login to Home Banking. Now, we are giving you the added assurance of actually being able to see for yourself the security of your online connection.
Effective March 19th, we are implementing a new secure authentication process to your Home Banking login called Multi-Factor Authentication.
Multi-Factor Authentication is a layered system that adds two new levels of security when you login. First - you can actually see if your online connection is secure. It displays an image and a phrase that always must appear together. You get to choose what they are. If either the image or the phrase is incorrect - then you know immediately that your web connection is not secure - don't login! Second - it uses a randomly selected question that you pre-set to verify you are who you say you are. When you setup your preferences, you choose three security questions and then supply the answers. One of these three questions will be on the authentication page when you login every time - and will change among the three every time.
NCUA has required all credit unions to comply with a layered and secure authentication process for online banking applications. We fully support this initiative as it provides you with an even stronger sense of safety and security while you do your home banking.

New 24-Hour Fraud Monitoring System
As your credit union, we pride ourselves on insuring
that our members' financial information is protected.
As another level of security, we have recently added
a 24-hour Fraud Monitoring System.
To prevent fraudulent usage of your Providence
Credit Union Visa debit and ATM card transactions,
our system analyzes typical debit and credit card
transactions for unusual activity.
If it detects activity that may indicate fraud,
the transaction will not be approved until the cardholder
(you) have been contacted by our system's call center.
The caller will say, "I'm ___ from the Providence
Credit Union card processing center," ask for
you (the cardholder) by name, verify your identity
by requesting such information as the last four digits
of your Social Security, and ask if you authorized
the transaction in question.
NOTE: The caller will NEVER ask for your
full Social Security Number.
If you did authorize the activity, no further action
will be taken. If you did not, the activity will
be considered fraudulent and the card will be restricted
to prevent further fraud.
If the caller does not reach you (the cardholder)
directly, he or she will leave a message asking you
to call back (1-800-262-2024 if you're in the U.S.
, or 1-973-682-2652 if outside the US ). If you do
not return the call, you'll receive a letter explaining
the situation and asking you to call back.
If you have questions or concerns about this information,
please contact us at 503-215-6090, or toll free
at 1-888-848-5189.
